Thanks for visiting the campaign website for Richard Lerner, your candidate for State Representative in the 37th District covering Farmington and Farmington Hills. Richard is committed to providing the leadership and strategic vision to help solve our state's most pressing issues. Throughout this site you will find our positions on the problems we face, and how we can solve them. Richard is running because "politics as usual" just isn't working. This year, with 47 of the 110 House seats being vacated, we have a unique opportunity for true change in our Government. We can give career politicians a vacation, and staff our State House with Legislators who understand the need for real change, and feel a sense of urgency about getting the job done. We need someone who understands the needs of small businesses, the economy, and how to operate lean and efficiently - in business and in government. Government needs to learn to operate more like the private sector.

We support bold new initiatives to re-ignite Michigan's economy. We believe that we need to reduce and then eliminate the new Michigan Business Tax, gain better control of our state spending, and promote economic growth and opportunity by providing tax incentives to companies that create new jobs in Michigan. We will fight to make Michigan “business friendly” by working to eliminate anti-business regulations and helping employers find new opportunities to get Michigan citizens back to work. We believe that our government should get the job done in 100 days, like almost all of the other 50 states. Legislators should be paid a minimal salary, and return to their private sector jobs after 100 days. Elected office should be a calling rather than a career. Partisan bickering needs to end. Our government needs to spend less time talking about right and left, and more time talking about right and wrong.
